Since 2000, I’ve been fortunate to visit Nepal on 6 occasions to help with the running of Rotary Eye Clinics.
Held in different regions each year, often remote, those in need have a team visit and receive an eye check and if required, obtain glasses at no cost. If screening shows more serious issues patients get referred to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Volunteers pay their own expenses and local Rotary clubs organise interpreters, accommodation and transport. Over the course of a typical 2-week clinic over 3,000 Nepalese can receive help from Optometrists, Dispensers like myself and Rotary volunteers.
