Unsure what your macula is ?
The macula is the centre area of the retina, it is responsible for your detailed central vision and most color vision. It enables us to read, recognise faces, drive a car and participate in activities that requires fine vision.
Macula disease causes progressive vision loss of the central vision.
Anybody can develop macula degeneration, but people over the age of 50 are at a higher risk. Everyone with diabetes is at risk of developing vision loss from retinopathy.
Knowledge is definitely power in the defence against macula disease, so it is imperative that you learn what you can to minimise your risk. This can be as simple as eating an eye friendly diet, modifying or managing lifestyle choices.
